The Weald Challenge is a community trail half marathon held in the Sussex Weald, starting and finishing at Chiddingly Primary School, Muddles Green. Organised by Uckfield Runners (the event transferred from Trail Running Sussex in 2024), the race follows outward sections of the Wealdway and returns along the Vanguard Way through largely off‑road public footpaths. The field is deliberately limited (400 places) to preserve a friendly, low‑impact atmosphere and the course is waymarked for competitors. The event offers chip timing and has been adapted to start on the school car park to assist timing accuracy.
Race day for 2026 is Sunday 7 June with wave starts: the first wave at 09:15 and three waves in total, five minutes apart, with a relaxed overall time limit of five hours. The organiser provides two staffed checkpoints on course, post‑race refreshments, a bespoke finisher's medal (with a Meals Not Medals donation option) and a handcrafted Weald Challenge mug, plus complimentary drinks and cake; first aid and medical cover are in place. The organiser's page describes the course as now 22.2 (noting this is longer than a standard half marathon) and supplies route maps, GPX and printable instructions for competitors.
