Ultra Wales 50 Mile is a demanding 51-mile mountain ultramarathon organised by GB Ultras, centred on the Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre in southern Snowdonia. The route climbs approximately 2,898 metres and traverses notable peaks and terrain including Cadair Idris and Rhinog Fach, offering technical trails, forest sections and coastal approaches near the Barmouth estuary. The 2026 edition is the seventh running of the event and features live GPS tracking for competitors and supporters via GB Race Tracker. Entrants should expect remote mountain conditions and full self-sufficiency requirements.
The race operates strict checkpoint cut-offs with an overall 20-hour time limit and a finish deadline of 02:00 on the Sunday after the Saturday start, and competitors must carry a comprehensive mandatory kit including maps, lights and emergency equipment. GB Ultras enforces a cupless policy with reusable cups available for purchase and provides aid stations/refreshments at checkpoints rather than unlimited external support; pacers are not permitted and some checkpoints disallow support crews. GPX files and detailed kit lists are provided by the organiser, entry is limited and medals are awarded by finishing bands (Gold/Silver/Bronze), emphasising safety, navigation and endurance as core event features.
