The Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile is a self-navigated, long-distance ultramarathon that follows the Beacons Way National Trail across the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog). The race starts at Abergavenny Castle and finishes at Llangadog RFC, taking runners over the highest mountains in south Wales and offering approximately 6,143 metres of ascent. Entrants must be experienced in mountain ultrarunning, carry mandatory kit at all times and complete map-and-compass navigation between ten checkpoints.
This event is limited to 250 entrants and features live online GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker, designated drop-bag transport to two mid-race checkpoints, and UTMB/ITRA points eligibility. The format enforces a strict overall cut-off of 40 hours, with a finish cut-off of 22:00 on the day after the start, and offers optional paid coach transport from the finish back to Abergavenny. GB Ultras administers registration, kit checks and race-day tracker distribution from pre-event and race morning registration sessions.
