Ultra Wales 50 is the flagship GB Ultras 50 Mile event, branded on the organiser site as Ultra Wales 50 and also described as Ultra Wales 50 Mile. The race follows a demanding coastal and mountain route in Snowdonia, highlighting Cadair Idris, Rhinog Fach and the Barmouth estuary across roughly 51 miles with approximately 2,898 m of elevation gain. The event is cupless and enforces a strict mandatory kit list, random kit checks, and a ban on pacers/support runners to preserve safety and environmental standards. Real-time GPS tracking and live results are provided for competitors and followers throughout the race.
Race HQ and the official start/finish location is Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre in Ganllwyd, Dolgellau, and the main race starts at 06:00 on the Saturday race day. The event includes timed checkpoints with specified cut-offs and a final finish cut-off at 02:00 on the Sunday, and entrants must be at least 20 years old. Ultra Wales 50 is part of the GB Ultras 50 Mile Grand Slam series and is limited in capacity (500 places), with deferral and transfer options managed by the organiser under published conditions.
