The Rammelsberger Steigerlauf – Der Berglauf im Nordharz takes place on 22 August 2026 with start and finish at the historic Rammelsberg mine ("START UND ZIEL AM BERGWERK"). The festival-style day features a mining-themed atmosphere that references traditional mining roles and the UNESCO World Heritage setting, with routes that run through former mining terrain and on steep technical passages. Courses range from a 1.5 km childrens KnappenLAUF up to the 56 km GrubenmeisterULTRA, offering on-site starts at the Werksgelände and Bergeschacht and steep gradients of up to around 30% on some sections.
All races are timed with professional electronic timing across the courses and the organiser permits late registration with on-site bib pickup on 21 August and 22 August (a late fee of 3 applies until 30 minutes before each start). The event emphasises mountain and trail running character, significant elevation changes, and a distinctive mining heritage experience that is visible at the start/finish area and along many route sections. Runners and walkers of different ages and abilities can select from multiple distances and formats across the single event day.
