The 19th Bad Harzburg Mountain Marathon brings runners and Nordic walkers to the gateway of the Harz on Whit Saturday (Pentecost Saturday), 23 May 2026. Start and finish take place on the picturesque and historic Galopprennbahn of the Harzburger Rennverein, giving the event a unique atmosphere with plenty of space for families and supporters. Courses traverse forest trails around Bad Harzburg with hilly profiles and scenic views towards the Brocken, offering a scenic but testing challenge.
The programme features a full marathon, an organiser-defined 22.0 km half marathon, 12.4 km and 6.6 km options, plus Nordic walking categories. Younger participants can enjoy the TÜV Nord Bambini run (about 500 m) and a 1.5 km Schnupper run, making the day welcoming for all ages. Marathon runners must begin their second lap by 13:00 otherwise the second lap will not count and a universal finish cut-off at 16:30 applies to all starters.
Electronic chip timing is provided by R.S.T. Volkslauf Run Sports Timing, and all finishers receive a medal. Facilities include toilets at start/finish and on course, showers and changing at the nearby Sportparkzentrum, and a cloakroom/bag drop on site. The organiser (TSG Bad Harzburg) operates online registration (Raceresult link published on the official site) with organised bib collection (evening before and race morning). A commemorative finisher shirt is available by pre-order together with pre-registration starter bags for early entrants. Medical support is provided by the German Red Cross and well-connected aid stations are available along the routes. Team classifications and age-category rules apply; participants should consult the official Ausschreibung and registration pages for full entry rules and exact start lists.
