The Pennine Barrier Ultra 50 is a 50‑mile trail ultra organised by GB Ultras that runs on waymarked sections of the Pennine Way and the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The route traverses iconic Yorkshire Dales scenery including Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Fountains Fell and the Three Peaks, and carries approximately 2,593 metres of elevation gain. The event is held from Malham Showfield (Chapel Gate, Malham) and is run under UK Athletics and Trail Running Association permits, with ITRA/UTMB performance index recognition noted on the organiser pages.
Runners start in the early morning with a mass start and may expect five staffed checkpoints with published cut‑offs; the overall finish cut‑off is midnight (18‑hour limit). Safety provision includes in‑race medical and mountain teams, mandatory GB Race Tracker live tracking for each competitor, and strict kit checks and mandatory kit requirements enforced before and during the race. The event is cupless (participants must bring a cup), has explicit transfer and deferral rules, and publishes GPX files, briefing videos and detailed athlete information on the official race website.
