The Großglockner Ultra-Trail (GGUT) is a dedicated alpine trail weekend centred on the Großglockner massif in the Hohe Tauern region of Austria. The 2026 edition takes place in the Zell am See–Kaprun area and brings high‑alpine terrain, glacier‑fringed passes and extended climbs to runners seeking long, technical mountain courses. The event is presented by Zell am See‑Kaprun Tourismus in cooperation with SALTY Trailrunning and emphasises mountain safety and high organisational standards for competitors across multiple distances.
Races range from a championship 110 km ultra with very large elevation gain down to shorter scenic and children’s routes, and the programme highlights mandatory equipment checks and alpine preparedness. The GGUT weekend links trails across several Austrian states and features substantial altitude exposure, making it a notable high‑mountain trail event in late July. Participants are directed to the official event pages and the registration portal for detailed rules, mandatory kit lists and entry procedures.
