Iron Room, Tring Station, Tring, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom
The Chilterns Trail Marathon is a guided, one-day trail run covering 42.2 km that meets at Tring station in Hertfordshire. The route uses sections of the Ridgeway and passes through local trails, nature reserves and Wendover Woods, offering rolling hills and approximately 500 m of ascent. English Athletics qualified run leaders provide group navigation, pacing and running technique tips, and participants are grouped by ability to ensure a supportive experience. The event is explicitly non-competitive and designed for runners who can complete a half marathon on the flat in under 2.5 hours.
Run The Wild provides staffed checkpoints with refreshments (up to three stops), a secure bag drop and on-route hospitality, and every participant receives a wooden finisher's medal and a Trees not Tees certificate. Field sizes are small (entry limited to 40), which emphasises guided support and a social group experience rather than racing for time. Practical information including the mandatory kit (trail shoes required), registration window and joining instructions are provided on the organiser's event page and in pre-event communications. Participants are advised to check the organiser's terms and contact Run The Wild for GPX, precise start times, medical cover and any accessibility or refund queries before travelling.
