The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2026 is the flagship marathon organised by SCC EVENTS and staged on the streets of Berlin. The race is part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and attracts elite fields, wide media coverage and a large international athlete field. The event weekend runs across 26–27 September 2026 and includes the main marathon, the GENERALI 5K supporting race and a large Marathon Expo at Messe Berlin.
The city course is centred on Straße des 17. Juni (between Brandenburger Tor and Kleiner Stern) with the start/finish area accessed from Platz der Republik opposite the Reichstag. Race day for the marathon is 27 September 2026 with the first runner wave scheduled at 09:15; timing is by chip (MIKA TAG on the bib) and pacemakers are provided across start waves. A mandatory 6:15 hours time limit applies (official cut-offs noted, including a KM 33 cut-off at 15:50). Official participant services include organised aid stations, secure bag drop, showers/changing, finish-area recovery (massage) and a finisher medal. For many entries a 4-day public transport ticket for Berlin’s ABC zones is included as part of the race package. The Marathon Expo at Messe Berlin is the location for race packet collection and other participant services.
Entry to the main marathon is primarily by lottery but can also be secured via charity places, official travel agents/tour operators and other guaranteed-entry routes. The organiser emphasises community and charity involvement. Runners can find the most current participant information, athlete guides, logistics, lottery dates, start cards and collection times on the official event site. A marathon app with live tracking is provided in the weeks before the race.
