Blackburn 5k 2026 | Race for Life – Cancer Research UK is an evening 5k run and walk at Witton Park organised by Cancer Research UK to raise funds for life‑saving cancer research. The 5k distance is achievable for most people and welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities, with a relaxed, non‑competitive atmosphere and a start time of 19:00. The course starts and finishes on grass and follows a mix of grass and surfaced paths around the park, making it suitable for participants who prefer a gentle, sociable pace. Participants are encouraged to join forces or go solo and there is no pressure to finish in a particular time.
The event places strong emphasis on accessibility and community support, offering wheelchair access with assistance, Sunflower wristbands and Dementia Friends trained staff, plus BSL resources via QR code. Practical details such as parking at Witton Park Main Car Park, nearby bus links and a short walk from Cherry Tree station are provided to help plan arrival on the day. There is a warm‑up session before the start and supporters are welcome, and participants receive an email with all the need‑to‑know information after registration. Entry fees contribute to event costs and participants are asked to meet a minimum fundraising target to support Cancer Research UK.
