Elbinselschule (Ankerplatz), Krieterstraße 2, Wilhelmsburg, 21109 Hamburg, Germany
The 45. Int. Wilhelmsburger Insellauf 2026 is a one-day road running meeting held on 12 April 2026 in Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg, organised by BMS Die Laufgesellschaft mbH with sporting oversight from SV Wilhelmsburg v. 1888 e.V. The event is staged on a scenic island loop course that combines asphalt, park paths and field tracks along the Dove‑Elbe and Moorwerder Elbdeich, passing allotments (Kleingärten) and dike sections across Europe’s largest inland island. Separate categories include a half marathon, a 10 km, a 5 km and a series of 1 km pupils' races with age‑based eligibility.
Timing is managed with an official transponder/chip system (a small timing fee may apply unless the entrant has a BMS chip) and official race photography is provided. There are prizes for top finishers in overall and age groups; immediate award ceremonies are held near the Elbinselschule finish area. Practical participant services include secure bag storage, aid stations, food and drink at the finish, showers/changing facilities (where provided), and a small festival atmosphere around the Elbinselschule start/finish area. Finishers receive the event's traditional Eisenbahner (railway) medal. The event supports a local charitable partner.
Logistics and registration: entrants register online (registration closes 31 March 2026; limited late on‑site registration may be possible). Early bib collection is available (10–11 April) and on‑site pick‑up is available on race day from 07:30.
