Wirral 5k 2026 | Race for Life – Cancer Research UK at Birkenhead Park is a community 5 km event organised to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The event is scheduled for Sunday 17 May 2026 with a mass start at 11:00, and is open to participants aged 16 and over who may walk, jog or run at their own pace. The course mixes grass and tarmac paths with the start and finish on the grass behind the Birkenhead Sea Cadets (what3words ///blunt.wing.fall), and supporters and spectators are warmly welcomed to join the atmosphere and post-race picnic area. Entrants are encouraged to fundraise for cancer research, with a minimum fundraising target noted on the event page.
The event page emphasises inclusivity and participant support, offering accessibility-assessed routes, Sunflower wristbands at the enquiries marquee and British Sign Language stage content via QR code. Practical travel guidance is provided, with Birkenhead Park railway station a short walk away and various local bus routes serving the park; on-site parking is not available. Entry fees are published on the event page (adults and children rates) and the organiser explains that the fee covers event costs while fundraising supports life-saving research. Participants should consult the official Race for Life event page for registration, fundraising tools and any further event information.
