The Werratalmarathon (7th edition) takes place on 01 May 2026 with start and finish at the Sportplatz in Mihla and is staged in collaboration with the local running groups from Treffurt, Mihla and Creuzburg. The race is held as part of the wider 30th Hainichlauf festival and offers multiple formats for participants, including a full marathon and a four-person relay. Organisers emphasise the community-run nature of the event and the scenic appeal of the surrounding Naturpark Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal.
The route is a circular course that follows the Werratal- and Herkulesradweg and features four crossings of the Werra, passing through towns such as Frankenroda, Falken, Treffurt, Volteroda, Ifta and Creuzburg before returning to Mihla. A 4-person relay uses the same course with official exchange points in Falken, Volteroda and Creuzburg, and aid stations are provided along the route; the official Ausschreibung also confirms a finisher medal and professional race timing. Participants should consult the organiser pages for full logistical details, registration rules and any updates or changes to the event programme.
