The Vienna City Marathon is a flagship road marathon held in the heart of Austria’s capital that invites runners to "Run to the modern and classic highlights of Vienna" and finish on the Ringstraße by the Burgtheater. The race weekend is organised by the Vienna City Marathon (VCM) group and carries World Athletics Elite Label status as part of the World Athletics Global Calendar, with an AIMS‑certified 42.195 km course and downloadable GPX route for competitors. The marathon starts from Wagramer Straße / Reichsbrücke in wave starts from 09:00 and aims to offer paced target groups and a finish celebration in central Vienna.
The VCM weekend comprises multiple events for all ages including the Wiener Städtische Half Marathon, Powerade Relay Marathon, Tchibo Coffee Run 10K, Vienna 5K and several children’s runs; bib collection is handled at Vienna Sports World (Marx Halle) on the Friday and Saturday before race day. Event services highlighted on the official pages include race chip timing with RFID bibs, aid stations and refreshments on course, secure wardrobe/cloakroom arrangements, medal options with engraving, live tracking and a medical centre for participants. Registration for the 19 April 2026 marathon is closed and a waiting list operated from October 2025; transfer, postponement and insurance options are described on the organiser’s site.
