The Ridgeway Challenge is an 86-mile (139 km) point-to-point trail running event organised by Runaway Racing on Saturday 30 May 2026. It follows the Ridgeway National Trail from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury and is offered alongside a shorter Ridgeway Chase 60K which finishes near Wallingford. The main race begins at Ivinghoe Beacon with a 28-hour overall time limit and features approximately 1,850 metres of ascent. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and presented as a self-navigation trail event across varied countryside.
Participants receive GPS live tracking, chip timing and are supported by eight staffed checkpoints with mid-race drop-bag provision and hot food at selected locations. Runners must carry mandatory kit (lights, survival blanket, charged phone, route GPX or map and sufficient fluids), and the route is marked by permanent Ridgeway signage supplemented with event markers where required. The organiser provides downloadable GPX, printable maps and a runners' guide, plus transport options to the start and spectator information; National Trust support is acknowledged at the start and finish. The Ridgeway Chase 60K offers a shorter 60 km option using the first section of the Ridgeway route, finishing at Ridgeway View Campsite near Wallingford.
