The Thames Trail Ultra is a long-distance, point-to-point ultramarathon following much of the Thames Path and sections of the Ridgeway National Trails. The race is presented as an approximately 47-mile / 48-mile course and is an UTMB Index race in the 50K category, offering live tracking via Geo Tracks and GPX/ RideWithGPS route support. The route mixes country trails, riverside towpaths and short road sections, and is supported by five checkpoints supplying water and snacks, a mandatory kit list and progressive cut-offs to keep runners safe.
Logistics are runner-friendly with a start at Hawkwell House Hotel (Iffley, Oxford) and a finish at the YMCA Y Centre in Henley-on-Thames where showers, hot food and changing facilities are provided. Entries include a Geo Tracks GPS tracker and finishers receive a medal and Go Beyond merchandise; baggage transfer from start to finish is available (one bag per competitor). The event is organised by Go Beyond Challenge and is aimed at experienced ultrarunners seeking UTMB index points and a scenic Thames Path point-to-point challenge.
