Helen Gardens, Eastbourne (event base / finish)
The South Downs (Summer Event) by UK Ultra is a one-day ultramarathon festival held on 23 May 2026 across the South Downs National Park with a finish in Eastbourne. The programme comprises four races covering the Seven Sisters Half Marathon, 20 miles, 50K and 100K distances, staged on point-to-point and single-loop runnable trails with dramatic coastal sections including Beachy Head. Courses are described as non-technical and runnable, making them accessible to both walkers and runners while still offering challenging terrain and memorable scenery. The event finishes in Eastbourne with a lively race village to welcome finishers.
Routes are fully waymarked with regularly stocked aid stations manned by volunteers and the finish area features commentary, food, music, massage and drinks to create a festival atmosphere for participants and supporters. The 100K forms part of the South Downs Triple Crown challenge introduced for 2025, and route maps, entrant lists and results are published on the official event pages. Current entries are listed at 387 and full start lists, logistics and detailed course GPX/route maps are available from the organiser's event pages.
