The Rothwell Cakeathon is a one-day, multi-distance trail running event organised by Its Grim Up North Running and scheduled for 31 May 2026. Held at Leeds Skelton Lake Services (M1 J45) near Leeds, the race offers four distances on the same venue and day and is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA Rules. The course is mixed-terrain, taking in woodland trails, riverside paths and open grass sections, and the organiser emphasises a friendly, social atmosphere with an inclusive approach for a range of abilities. Sustainability is highlighted by a cup-free policy, and runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for feed stations.
Race start times are staggered across the morning, with the Marathon and 20 Mile starting at 08:30, the Half Marathon at 09:00 and the 6.7 Miler at 09:30, and registration opens on the day from 07:30 with bib collection at race registration. The event provides regular aid/feed stations (approximately every 3 miles), bespoke finisher medals and cake for finishers, and post-race social time with tea; free parking is available at the venue. Course notes warn of possible unmanned road crossings and mixed underfoot conditions, and a generous 6.5-hour cut-off is stated to accommodate a broad range of participants. Entry fees vary by distance and are listed on the event page, with transfers and limited deferrals handled via the organiser's instructions.
