RIDE Essex Dirty is a charity cycle ride that takes riders on two scenic routes through quiet villages and the farmlands of Essex, offering undulating terrain with short steep hills and sustained climbs. The event page frames the ride as a fundraising activity in support of Action Medical Research, raising funds for vital research for sick babies and children. Riders can choose between a 32-mile and a 58-mile route, both signposted and supported with marshals, outriders, a SAG wagon and roving mechanical assistance. Registration for the event opened on 1 November 2025 and the ride is scheduled for 30 August 2026.
The ride starts at Writtle University College on Lordship Road in Writtle, Chelmsford, and includes on-site facilities such as parking, toilets and on-the-day registration with pre-packet pickup options. Participants are offered event services including course timing, downloadable GPS files, event photography, finishing medals and a post-event meal included with entry, with results published within 24 hours. A leaflet with maps and route information is provided to competitors and the organisers emphasise rider safety with first-aid provision and clear route signing. The event is presented as part of an Essex cycling programme and is limited to a maximum of 4,000 participants.
