RIDE Essex

RIDE Essex is a charity cycling sportive organised by Action Medical Research that invites riders to close their season with a scenic tour of the Essex countryside. The event offers three clearly signposted route options suitable for a wide range of abilities, from the beginner-friendly Cool ride to the challenging Champion 100‑mile route, and includes downloadable GPX files and a Rider Manual for pre‑ride planning. The day is based at ARU Writtle in Chelmsford and highlights first‑class on‑day support including feed stops, mechanical and medical assistance and a staffed ride control.

Participants benefit from a well‑managed event village with free parking at the venue and spectator‑friendly finish areas in the Writtle gardens. Start windows are used for each route to manage flows on the road, and the overall ride day closes at 17:00 to ensure riders return to the venue. RIDE Essex also raises funds for Action Medical Research and carries Racecheck bronze accreditation for consistently positive rider feedback.
