Start and finish: Magdeburg, Germany
Peaks & Plains is an unsupported ultracycling road challenge beginning and finishing in Magdeburg, Germany. The route covers 555 kilometres with approximately 7,300 metres of climbing, traversing the Harz Mountains and returning across the Magdeburger Börde. Riders may enter solo or as a two-person pair and must complete the course within a 48-hour time limit. The event emphasises self-sufficiency and navigation on open public roads rather than closed-race infrastructure.
The event includes live GPS tracking with tracker rental, a start cap with race number, a downloadable GPX route and access to professional event photography, plus a finisher medal. Mandatory safety measures and race rules require helmets, lights and adherence to traffic laws, with disqualification for serious breaches or route shortcuts. Peaks & Plains is pitched as a rugged, road-based endurance test for riders seeking long-distance navigation and sustained climbing across varied terrain.
