The O-SEE Ultra Trail brings a full weekend of mountain trail running to the Zittau Mountains Nature Park, starting and finishing in the village of Oybin near Germany’s border with Poland and the Czech Republic. Set among striking sandstone formations and the historic Oybin monastery ruins, the routes showcase rugged singletrack, forest paths and panoramic viewpoints in Germany’s smallest low mountain range. The organiser emphasises technical trails, steady ascents and a wild, scenic character that rewards both seasoned ultrarunners and ambitious first‑timers.
Multiple race options run on the main Saturday, ranging from the demanding O-SEE 100k and 75k through to the 50k, 25k, 16k and a shorter LIGHT 5.9k, plus walking and children’s races. Aid stations are cup‑free, so participants must carry a drinking container, and electronic chip timing underpins prompt results and awards. With a central race village in Oybin, showers and changing facilities, bag drop and on‑site catering, the event blends a festival atmosphere with well‑organised mountain running.
Selected distances are part of the XTERRA Trail Run World Series, adding a competitive edge and international flair. The courses are clearly marked yet participants are encouraged to carry GPX files due to the natural environment and the potential for changing conditions. Professional event photography and a lively finish area complete a challenging but welcoming weekend for runners of all levels.
