Nightrun Friday, 23 October 2026 | 5.5 km - 80 m

The Nightrun (Nightrun Freitag, 23. Oktober 2026) is the opening race of the Salzburg Trailrunning Festival and is staged as a night-time city run of 5.5 km with approximately 80 m of ascent. The course starts and finishes at Kapitelplatz in central Salzburg and passes riverside sections along the Salzach, the Müllnersteg, the Mirabellgarten and historic narrow streets including Nonnberggasse and Festungsgasse, offering elevated views over the city. Runners are promised an atmospheric finish on Kapitelplatz close to the cathedral and Hohensalzburg Fortress, with a lively awards atmosphere at the finish.

Headlamps are mandatory for all participants and reflective clothing is recommended as part of the organiser’s safety rules. The event schedule on the race page lists bib pickup, a mandatory briefing before the start and a prize giving at 20:15; GPX and a route description PDF are available from the organiser.
