The Glasgow To Edinburgh Ultra 57 Mile (G2E Ultra) is a point-to-point ultra running event that follows canal towpaths and urban routes between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The course is described by the organiser as flat and fast, routing along the River Kelvin, Sustrans Route 754, the Forth and Clyde Canal, the Union Canals and the Water of Leith, with notable landmarks such as the Falkirk Wheel and the Antonine Wall. The race features live online GPS tracking for followers and strict checkpoint procedures intended to ensure runner safety and timely progress.
The event emphasises mandatory kit, cupless racing and defined support rules: runners must carry specified mandatory equipment, dropbags are handled by GB Ultras staff at registration, and pacers or unauthorised support runners are prohibited. Finishers receive tiered medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze) and there are trophies for top male and female finishers; official results and photographer galleries are published after the race. The organiser, GB Ultras, publishes GPX route downloads, a mandatory kit video and race instructions in advance to assist competitor planning.
