Start: Belderberg, Bonn; Finish: Marktplatz (Old Town Hall), Bonn
The Deutsche Post Marathon Bonn returns on 19 April 2026 as a vibrant, Rhine-side city running festival that showcases Bonn’s landmarks and riverside scenery. Participants can choose from multiple race formats — including the full 42.195 km marathon (run as two laps of a certified course), a 21.0975 km half marathon, a 10 km run, team relays over the marathon distance, inline skating and handbike/wheelchair categories — plus a free Schulmarathon for school pupils. The route finishes on Bonn’s Marktplatz in front of the historic Alter Rathaus (Old Town Hall) and is supported by enthusiastic crowds.
The event weekend includes an athlete expo (Marathon‑Messe) with packet pickup on the Friday and Saturday before race day, preparation runs and detailed participant services. Organisers publish logistics (arrival, parking and shuttle services), start-wave times, exact start positions, measured course maps and downloadable route PDFs. The courses are WA‑AIMS/DLV certified and eligible for official rankings. For 2026 the organiser announced adjusted start times and limited-edition sponsor items (a Carnival running shirt) and reported very high demand in recent years (around 18,000 registrations in 2025, with a target approaching 20,000 for 2026).
Practical services include aid stations, secure bag drop, professional photography, spectator provisions and coordination with the City of Bonn. The organisers position the event as community-focused with separate offers for schools, teams and recreational athletes; the Deutsche Post Schulmarathon provides free entry for eligible pupils and a dedicated school programme. The event is title-sponsored by Deutsche Post.
