The Covestro Triathlon is a long‑running multi‑distance triathlon held around the Elfrather See in Krefeld, Germany. Established in 1988, it attracts up to 1,500 participants and more than 5,000 spectators, creating a lively atmosphere for athletes and supporters alike. The swim takes place on the lake’s regatta course, followed by a flat bike leg on a fully closed autobahn access road and a multi‑lap run around the lake. A central transition zone keeps everything compact and accessible, making logistics smooth for competitors and spectators.
The programme offers something for all abilities, from an introductory sprint to the Olympic distance, with relay options and youth Swim & Run races. The event is sanctioned by the regional federation and held under DTU competition rules, including non‑drafting regulations outside designated league races. Provisional start times are provided and may be adjusted, and athletes must use a Real‑Time‑Champion chip for timing, with hire and purchase options available. Practical guidance covers arrival routes and recommended parking, and race documents are collected on the day from the information desk.
