The Bewl 15 & 5 Mile offers runners a choice between a challenging 15-mile trail and a shorter 5-mile route set around the scenic Bewl Water on the Sussex–Kent border. Organised by Wadhurst Runners, the event is renowned for friendly, enthusiastic marshals and a welcoming club atmosphere. Participants can expect picturesque lakeside sections, gently undulating terrain and a rewarding finish, with bespoke medals and commemorative t‑shirts for all finishers. The day is rounded off with complimentary cakes and local beer at the finish, often accompanied by a lively brass band.
The 15-mile route traces the original round Bewl course, including nature reserve sections and quiet country lanes, while the 5-mile option is entirely off‑road and follows the opening part of the longer loop before returning. The 15-mile race has a four-hour time limit, making it accessible to a wide range of abilities while still offering a satisfying challenge. Detailed route maps and GPX files are available from the official event listing, helping runners to prepare thoroughly. The event forms part of the Sussex Grand Prix and also supports the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex.
