Ortszentrum, Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße, Austria
Glocknerkönig is a high‑alpine cycling challenge held on the car‑free Großglockner Hochalpenstraße, with the 29th edition scheduled for 7 June 2026. The race starts in the Ortszentrum of Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße and offers two competitive categories, Classic and Ultra, which finish at high‑altitude points such as the Fuscher Törl and the Edelweißspitze. The route is promoted as a closed‑road ascent with sustained gradients and alpine conditions; the main road is closed to motor traffic approximately 07:00–10:30 on race day to secure the course (downhill traffic restrictions begin earlier, around 06:30).
Riders may enter the Classic or the Ultra classification (roughly 27–29 km) with vertical gains typically around 1,700–1,815 m. Professional chip timing is provided by Datasport. Organisers run an Ultra waiting list when the category is sold out (enquiries: [email protected]). A charity Bergzeitfahren (Volkshilfe Salzburg) and a KidsParcours take place within the Glocknerkönig framework on 6 June.
The event emphasises participant services and safety: on‑course aid stations, medical support, clothes bag transport to the finish, starter gifts and a finisher medal for participants, plus post‑race food and massage. Practical extras previously offered include a BUFF headband, pasta‑party vouchers, calf massage and a race start number. Entry and up‑to‑date rules (Wettkampfbestimmungen), team scoring and FAQ are available via the official registration and event pages.
