The 28. Maare‑Mosel‑Lauf brings runners to the striking volcanic landscapes of the Vulkaneifel on 29 August 2026. Staged from the Schule am Pulvermaar in Gillenfeld, the event is an experience run through Europe’s largest maar area with well‑made paths, gentle climbs and views across protected reserves such as the Schalkenmehrener Maar and the areas around Mürmes and Sangweiher.
The programme features a Nürburg Quelle Half Marathon (21.1 km), a VR Bank RheinAhrEifel 10 km Hauptlauf, a Nürburg Quelle 5‑km‑Lauf (two laps), and the non‑timed GesundLand‑Lauf/Walken (approx. 7.3 km). Kids and youth races include a 300 m Bambini, 1,200 m races for U8–U12 girls and boys, and a 5,000 m U14–U16 race that starts with the 5 km. Aid stations are positioned at regular intervals and the event applies a finish cutoff at 20:00.
With live music from the evening (around 19:30) and awards afterwards, Maare‑Mosel‑Lauf blends competition and celebration in a compact event village at the school grounds. The organiser is known for clear waymarking, supportive route staff and a friendly, family‑oriented community atmosphere—making the event suitable for participants of many abilities and enjoyable for spectators as runners pass the centre on the two‑lap 5 km.
