Spitzhaustreppe, between Hoflößnitz vineyard and Spitzhaus, Radebeul, Elbtal, Saxony, Germany
The 22. Sächsische Mt. Everest Treppen-Marathon (Mt. Everest Treppenmarathon) is a three-day stair-climbing festival held in Radebeul, Saxony, from 01 May to 03 May 2026. The event centres on the historic Spitzhaustreppe between the Hoflößnitz vineyards and the Elbe valley and combines competitive endurance formats with shorter, spectator-friendly races. The organiser presents the weekend as an annual highlight — the 2026 edition is advertised as the 22nd running since the inaugural 2005 event.
The event is built around a repeat-climb format: the staircase offers 397 steps per ascent and roughly 88.4 metres of vertical gain per lap, enabling formats from a single-ascent sprint to multi-lap 100-round challenges and timed categories. Multiple race formats are offered across the weekend including the solo 100-round "Alleingang", team relays (Dreierseilschaft, Elf Freunde), Sherpa 25, Annapurna 50, the Karoh Peak sprint, Jedermann (fun run) and the Rocket WoMan single-ascent race. Race ranks, age limits and participant caps are published in the official Ausschreibung and on the registration hub for each category.
Registration is managed via the official site and the race registration hub, with organisers warning that participant numbers are limited by the course architecture and that early sign-up secures the best pricing and a start place; the site notes registration for METM 2026 opens on 01.08 at 08:00. The official rules (Ausschreibung) and Teilnahmebedingungen set eligibility, safety and late-entry rules, while many categories list inclusions such as catering, a yearly shirt and event cup. Competitors are advised to consult the official site for exact start waves, on-site services and final timetable updates.
