22nd Magdeburg Marathon "By Runners - For Runners"

The 22. Magdeburg‑Marathon ("Von Läufern - für Läufer" / "By Runners - For Runners") is a multi‑day running and walking festival centred on Messe Magdeburg, with race day on Sunday 4 October 2026 and bib pickup and a race expo on Saturday 3 October. Participants can choose from a wide programme including the full marathon (two laps), a team‑marathon relay, half marathon, 10 km, multiple walking options and the popular Minimarathon for younger athletes. The courses are largely asphalted and feature scenic passages along the River Elbe and through Magdeburg’s parks, making the event suitable both for personal‑best attempts and for first‑time participants.

Organised by Volkslaufgemeinschaft (VLG) 1991 Magdeburg e.V., the weekend includes a lively race village at Messe Magdeburg with a sports fair, a traditional pasta/noodle party, a stage show and entertainment at the finish. On‑course support includes water stations roughly every 5 km, multiple aid stations, chip (transponder) timing for competitive events, official photography and finisher apparel. The organiser promotes early‑bird registration and confirms finisher shirts and an exclusive helper shirt for 2026; prizes and podium ceremonies are held for top finishers and teams. The event welcomes club teams, families and newcomers alike.
