Hafenpromenade / Tangermünder Hafen, 39590 Tangermünde, Germany
The Tangermünder Elbdeichmarathon (official title: 16. Tangermünder Elbdeichmarathon) is a weekend road-running festival on the Elbe in Tangermünde, offering a scenic, low-traffic riverside course that passes through the Elbe floodplain and parts of the UNESCO biosphere reserve. The programme packages a full weekend of activity with an opening ceremony, a pasta party and marathon exhibition on the harbour, a Saturday marathon fair and start-number pickup, followed by the main race day in mid‑April. Organisers promote a nature-focused running experience ("Das Naturlauferlebnis entlang der Elbe") that emphasises scenic views, local atmosphere and village support points rather than big-city crowds.
The 2026 edition features multiple distances for a broad range of runners: a full marathon, the Avacon half marathon, the Elektro Schubert 10 km run, the Humanas mini-marathon and an AOK children's run, all starting and finishing in the Tangermünde harbour area. Race services include transponder chip timing, regular aid stations, secure bag drop, finishers' medals and on-site showers, plus free post-race massages, physio and medical cover. The event is presented by the Tangermünder Elbdeichmarathon organisers and uses a capped field (organisers note an overall limit of about 2,300 runners). Practical participant information (detailed course maps, DLV measurement notes, registration and start procedures) and online registration are published on the official event website and the Streckeninfos/Anmeldung pages linked from the homepage. Prize presentations, finisher certificates/medals, family-friendly activities and sponsor presentations are part of the festival weekend.
