Pörtschach am Wörthersee (start/finish hub)
The Wörthersee Trail Festival 2026 (Wörthersee Trail Festival | Laufen & Wandern am See) is a two-day trail running and hiking event held around the Wörthersee in Carinthia. The festival combines organised trail races with family-friendly activities and children’s runs, centred on Pörtschach am Wörthersee as the primary start/finish hub. It emphasises marked routes and downloadable GPX tracks so participants can follow well-defined trails through lake and mountain scenery. The organisers present the weekend as a community-focused gathering that pairs athletic challenge with sustainability and local engagement.
The event features three main trail distances—Ultra (65 km), Speed Trail (32 km) and Short Trail (14 km)—plus a series of Kinderläufe for younger participants, and is run by Naturfreunde Kärnten. Races are officially aligned with UTMB® and ITRA standards, routes are marked and supported by aid stations, and there is a drop-bag service for the Ultra distance. Sustainability measures such as no single‑use cups and travel guidance to use public transport are highlighted, and mandatory equipment lists and start checks are published per race. The festival also links into the regional Trail Cup Kärnten series and provides practical resources like GPX downloads and clear route signage.
