Donauturm, Donauturmplatz 1, 1220 Vienna, Austria
The event titled "Weltrekordversuch am Donauturm" is a scheduled world record attempt taking place on 10 June 2026 at the Donauturm in Vienna. Ultramarathon runner Rainer Predl will attempt to cover 100 kilometres by repeatedly circling the tower's inner terrace, turning a compact loop into a long-distance challenge. The attempt is presented by the Donauturm and overseen by the Rekord-Institut für Deutschland & Österreich, and it is promoted as a public spectacle inviting on-site spectators.
Competitors will first ascend the 779 stairs to reach the inner terrace, which sits at about 155 metres, before the timed laps commence, and each lap is around 40 metres in length. The attempt doubles as a fundraiser for Sterntalerhof, with supporters invited to donate per completed lap, and organisers have announced a livestream will be available although no direct link is provided on the event page. The format emphasises endurance, public engagement and charitable giving rather than a traditional race format with prize allocations.
