The West Highland Way Challenge 2026 is a four-day, point-to-point endurance trek along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William, described on organiser and partner pages as a 96-mile route. The event is presented as non-competitive — participants are encouraged to push their personal limits while times are recorded for a leaderboard rather than as a formal race. Participants can choose different challenge categories (Enjoy, Endeavour, Endure) to tailor how much kit they carry and the style of their experience. The programme is intended for adults and runs over the late May bank holiday weekend.
The challenge is supported throughout with staffed checkpoints approximately every 5–7 miles providing refreshments, light snacks and medical cover, and designated campsites each night offering hot showers. Baggage transfer between campsites is available for those who do not wish to carry all their kit, and the event includes guides, trackers and a personalised completion certificate. Organisers emphasise safety and support rather than competition, and the published materials state a no-refund policy for entries. The event publicity highlights the scenic, rugged character of the West Highland Way and a multi-day supported trekking format suitable for experienced walkers and well-prepared newcomers.
