VechtdalTrail 2026 is a one-day trail running event centred on Ommen with the start and finish at Sportpark Westbroek (atletiekvereniging ACO-Van Elderen). The routes carry participants through the Vecht valley and several nature areas in cooperation with landowners such as Staatsbosbeheer, Landschap Overijssel and Landgoed Junne. The 2026 edition introduces longer formats including a VechtdalTrail Marathon (42 km) and a 60 km ultra alongside 30 km, 22 km and 15 km options, offering something for a wide range of trail runners. The event branding emphasises route quality, natural scenery and ongoing route development across successive editions.
Logistics are focused on preregistration and sustainability: participation is by pre-entry only, aid stations are cup-free and runners must bring a collapsible cup or water bag, and medals are not awarded to limit ecological impact. Timing is provided via a chip in the personalised start number and longer distances have time limits with aid-station cut-offs based on a minimum speed of 7.5 km/h. Facilities listed for the event include parking, a canteen, changing rooms with showers, medical space and massage; the course is not fully closed and normal traffic rules apply where relevant. Entrants are directed to the organiser's website for downloadable GPX routes, registration and the most recent athlete information.
