The Obermain-Marathon returns to Bad Staffelstein on 12 April 2026, offering a memorable running experience through scenic Franconian countryside. The course showcases varied terrain with sections of asphalt, gravel and forest paths, and the marathon route features punchy climbs rewarded by expansive views. Runners set off from the town hall in Bad Staffelstein and loop past cultural landmarks before heading to a celebratory finish in or near the stadium where supporters can cheer them home.
Participants can choose from a full marathon, a half marathon and a shorter run around 12.5–13 km, with a Nordic walking half marathon also on the programme. The marathon route is described as hilly with substantial elevation changes, while the half marathon is noted for a very flat profile.
