Inverness to Dores, Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands
Ultra X Scotland 2026 is a two-day ultra-trail weekend held in the Scottish Highlands, centred on Inverness and the shores of Loch Ness. The event, presented under the Ultra X brand, offers a multi-distance programme with a flagship 110 km option that can be run as a single-stage or as two stages (60 km + 50 km), alongside 60 km, 50 km, 25 km and 12 km trail races. The route highlights include sections of the Great Glen Way and the South Loch Ness Trail, highland summits such as Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, and a finish spectacle at Loch Ness Beach in Dores beneath the Ultra X Blue Arch.
The weekend places emphasis on on-course support and community involvement, with fully stocked aid stations, professional timing and medical cover, campsite facilities for the two-stage option, and local food and drink provision at the finish. Several distances are indexed as UTMB World Series qualifiers, making the event attractive to international and competitive runners as well as recreational entrants. Organisers for 2026 are Ultra X (World Ultra Corporation Ltd), and the official event information is published on the Ultra X website.
