The Three Hearts Marathon is an iconic running event, taking place in Radenci, Slovenia each year since 1981. It is the oldest marathon in south-eastern Europe and is officially measured by AIMS/IAAF. Participants run on a flat course along the river Mura, winding through both Slovenia and Austria and crossing the border four times. This event is considered a true display of "heart and soul" and is attended by several thousand people annually. It was the Slovenian national championships race from 1992 to 1998 and has alternated with the Ljubljana Marathon ever since.
