Place de la République, Saumur (event village and hub)
The Marathon de la Loire is held in Saumur and its surroundings on Sunday 10 May 2026 for the 8th edition of the event. Le Marathon de la Loire takes competitors along the Loire riverside, using the vieille Levée and stretches of the riverbanks that are located in an area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The weekend is presented as a festival-style event with a dedicated village, an expo (Salon du running) and on-course entertainment every kilometre.
The event offers multiple race formats on the same day, including the Marathon Individuel (42.195 km), a Semi‑Marathon (21.1 km), an Épreuve Combinée in duo and a new 5 km Matmut #NésPourBouger non-chronométré for 2026. The marathon carries FFA recognition (Label Argent / national label) and is presented as qualifying for the French championships, while logistical pages and the 2026 règlement describe traveller information, shuttles and village services. Participants are signposted to the official site for the full règlement, registration via the Finishers portal and practical details such as parkings, bib collection and the pasta party.
