La Montée du Nid d’aigle is a long‑running mountain running classic organised by the Office de Tourisme de Saint‑Gervais Mont‑Blanc and celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. The race routes runners from the Parc Thermal du Fayet up to the Nid d’Aigle, gaining substantial altitude on a principally trail terrain and offering a finish at the historic gateway used by mountaineers. The event is presented as a traditional, iconic ascent that attracts mountain running enthusiasts and elite athletes from beyond the region.
The course is notable for its steep, sustained climb (the Nid d’Aigle edition is listed at roughly 19.5 km with about 2,000 m of positive elevation) and the characteristic return option via the Tramway du Mont‑Blanc at the finish. Participants receive detailed course documentation, GPX files and a published itinerary and regulation for 2026, and the organiser provides multiple on‑course aid stations and enforced refreshment rules. The Office de Tourisme frames the race as both a sporting challenge and a cultural tradition of Saint‑Gervais‑les‑Bains.
