Start at Schloss Gloggnitz, Gloggnitz, Niederösterreich, Austria
The (T)railway Hatscher is an extreme long-distance walking event that follows the UNESCO-listed Bahnwanderweg, with the main start in Gloggnitz and finish options in Semmering or Mürzzuschlag depending on the chosen distance. The event offers multiple distances (21 km, 42 km and 52 km) plus a dog-friendly 21 km Adventure Dogs category, and places strong emphasis on self-navigation and reaching designated checkpoints rather than following a fixed line. Participants are advised to carry suitable equipment such as sturdy hiking shoes, provisions and a headtorch, and the organiser operates a fair-pricing model for entries.
Timing is optional via Sportanmeldung.at (personal timing chips are not supported) and each distance has a published maximum time limit. On-course refreshments and a finisher medal are provided at Semmering, Mürzzuschlag and other points along the route, and free parking is available at the start and key train stations with return travel recommended by ÖBB. The event is organised by Adventure Runs and is presented as a single-day endurance walking challenge with orientation elements on 4 June 2026.
