Karrenparkplatz (Karren parking lot), Dornbirn
Staufenlauf 2026 is the 14th edition of the annual mountain run around Dornbirn, centred on the classic ascent to the Staufenspitze. The flagship race is the 1000 Höhenmeter event, a single-ascent mountain run offering roughly 1,000 metres of elevation gain and panoramic summit views in the Dreiländereck. The race uses interval starts (30-second gaps) beginning at 10:00 and is explicitly limited to the first 150 entrants, with proceeds donated to selected sponsored children in Dornbirn. An after-race party and tombola take place at Restaurant Frischluft near Campingplatz Dornbirn once runners have finished.
The event is organised by StaufenBewegung in cooperation with Kneipp-Aktiv-Club Dornbirn and is presented as a community charity event with local partners and volunteers. Practical services described in the official information include bib collection and clothing drop, Sherpa transport of clothing to the summit, on-course refreshments and a runner meal, plus shower/changing facilities at the Campingplatz. The organiser publishes a participant FAQ, registration page and starter information on the official site; registration opens on 1 April 2026 and the event follows published safety and overtaking rules for the mountain course. Competitors are advised to follow the official briefings, respect environmental rules (take litter down the hill) and observe marshal and mountain rescue instructions.
