The Schluchseelauf — 18 km (Schluchseelauf) is the traditional long-distance race on the Schluchsee weekend, run mostly on natural paths around the lake at roughly 1,000 metres above sea level. The course is described as a scenic loop of approximately 18 km with about 160 m of elevation gain, offering predominantly nature-trail terrain and panoramic Black Forest views. Club teams (three runners per club) are officially scored by running time, and finishers receive a sustainable finisher medal made from environmentally friendly materials.
This edition is part of the Schluchseelauf 2.0 relaunch and emphasises community, inclusivity and sustainability while retaining the race’s historic character. The event uses a single-use chip timing system with bibs containing integrated chips and operates start fields (Startfeld 1 and Startfeld 2) on race day. Practical details such as exact wave assignments, full timetable and course map are published on the official site or in the athlete information pages.
