The Running of the Bulls 8K returns for its 18th running as a community road race presented by Bull City Running Co. The scenic 8K course winds through the historic and revitalised neighbourhoods of downtown Durham and concludes with a lap on the warning track inside the iconic Old Durham Athletic Park. The event is chip-timed and features a Brooks tech tee for every 8K participant, DJ entertainment and refreshments in the finish village, and cash and shoe prizes for top finishers.
A family-friendly festival atmosphere accompanies the race with multiple kids races that are also chip-timed and include cowbell awards and a custom cowbell finisher medal for all finishers. Packet pick-up is available the day before and race morning, and the organiser provides clear policies on strollers, dogs and headphones. Bull City Running Co. positions this as Durham’s premier community road race and highlights its long history and local traditions in downtown Durham.
