RIDE The Dales (Action Medical Research) is a charity road sportive held from Ripon Racecourse that offers three supported route choices for different abilities: Champion (100 miles), Classic (65 miles) and Cool (41 miles). The event showcases Nidderdale's rolling dales and challenging climbs, notably the Trapping Hill / Lofthouse climb on the longer routes, and passes scenic landmarks including views towards Fountains Abbey on the shorter route. Riders take part to support Action Medical Research and can expect a well‑organised day with start windows, route signing and on‑route support designed for fundraising cyclists. The event page and rider manual set out participant rules, safety information and the fundraising focus for the day.
The sportive is fully supported with chip timing, on‑route aid stations, mechanical and medical support, and a finishers' medal, and the event village at Ripon Racecourse provides parking and venue facilities. E‑bikes are permitted and helmets are mandatory; GPX files are listed as "to follow" and additional route information is available in the Rider Manual and the event policies. Free car parking is provided on site and photos and refreshments are available to purchase; registration and detailed terms (refunds, deferrals and transfers) are set out on Action's event pages. Participants are asked to follow the organiser's instructions and cut‑off times to ensure all riders finish within the advertised event closure time.
