The Christian Church in Norway has been pressured into submission by the State Church of Norway which does not place its faith in the teachings of Holy Scripture. The Christian Church is the greatest humanitarian provider and source of hope for those in need. The need has increased with the displacement of Ukrainian refugees into different areas of Europe including Norway. The need for the life giving words of the Bible and assistance for the poor and needy is the reason that the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod is sending 4 new pastors to help start and maintain congregations in Norway.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Troy IL will be hosting a virtual distance challenge in July to help raise funds for the efforts of the new pastors heading to Norway to help rebuild the church and assist in humanitarian efforts. The distance challenge will be like a combined 5k, except the distance we are hoping to collectively achieve will be the distance from St. Louis to Oslo Norway, or 4,308 miles. There will be prizes for the top group and top individuals who walk / run the longest distance.
