Source of the Thames (Cotswolds), United Kingdom
The MTC Thames Challenge - Multi Stage Endurance Race 2026 is a four‑day, multi‑stage ultra that follows the Thames Path from the Source of the Thames in the Cotswolds toward Greenwich. The full route covers approximately 184 miles (circa 296 km) and is split into four independent daily stages, each run as a standalone ultra-distance race. The event is scheduled from 6 August 2026 to 9 August 2026 and is organised by Ultra Running Ltd, with entries handled via RiderHQ and the organiser's event page. The route passes through a mixture of river path, town and riverside settings and is presented as a continuous multi‑day challenge for experienced ultra runners.
Each stage awards a bespoke finisher's medal and competitors who complete all four stages receive four jigsaw medals that together recreate a miniature map of the route. The organisers offer multi‑day logistics including accommodation options at end of several days, kit transfer and checkpoint food and drink, while trophies are awarded to overall winners. The event operates time restrictions and minimum pace requirements (competitors may be withdrawn for failing to meet the required pace), and runners are expected to be self‑sufficient for transport to starts and from finishes; detailed stage maps and up‑to‑date route information are available on the official event website.
