Donauinsel, arena at Floridsdorferbrücke, Vienna
The Merkur Viennathlon is an urban obstacle race held on Vienna's Donauinsel, branded as part of the Beat the City Viennathlon series. The Vienna edition (Merkur Viennathlon) is scheduled for 26 September 2026 and offers 5 km and 10 km competition options with courses featuring multiple climbing and mud obstacles. The event uses a start-block format with time-seeded 80-person waves and an organised event arena at the Floridsdorferbrücke area.
Participants are offered race services including secure luggage storage, showers, aid stations along the course and food and drink options in the finish arena, with start numbers and timing chips issued ahead of race day. A junior Persil Viennathlon for children aged roughly 8–15 runs on the same day, and the Vienna race also serves as the finale and scoring event for the four-city Viennathlon series. Registration is handled via MaxFun/Sports and the event pages on the Beat the City site; organiser contact is published for participant queries.
